Oral Historian

As a trained Oral Historian, I offer oral history training and consultancy for charities, community groups and professional organisations. I am currently working on the following projects:

2021/22

Manchester United

Forgotten Voices of the Terraces: The experience of female football fans 1960-2000

Working alongside the Manchester United Museum and the MU Foundation, the aim of the project is to highlight the experience of female fans attending football matches from 1960-2000. Such narratives are often missing in the broader history of football, something that this project aims to change.

The Pankhurst Centre

Rooms of Our Own

Supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, the “Rooms of Our Own” project will reveal the hidden ‘herstory’ of the Pankhurst Centre from the 1970s to 2014. Using volunteers and paid staff, the project will catalogue and digitise the archive held at the Pankhurst Centre which tells a rich account of women’s activism in the region, documenting the activities of the women who fought to save the building – the birthplace of the suffragette movement – and rebuild it as a museum and feminist hub.

Knutsford Council

Memories of Knutsford During WWII

To commemorate the 75th anniversary of the end of World War II in 2020, Knutsford Town Council secured a grant from the National Lottery Heritage Fund to produce a documentary film about Knutsford during the war. This project seeks to interview those that had a connection to Knutsford during the war.
