1. Services Provided
- I provide professional genealogy, historical research, and consultation services, including but not limited to: probate research, adoption and parentage DNA research, next of kin tracing, Irish citizenship research, family trees, ancestor biographies, house histories, academic consultancy, and Power Hour consultations.
- All research is carried out to the highest professional standard, using reliable sources where available. However, due to the nature of historical records, no outcome or discovery can be guaranteed.
2. Fees and Payment
- Fees are agreed in advance and may be charged as fixed fees, hourly rates, or package rates.
- Payment terms: invoices must be settled at least 24 hours before an appointment (e.g. Power Hour) or in accordance with agreed terms for larger projects.
- All fees are non-refundable once research has begun.
3. Cancellations and Refunds
- Cancellations for consultations must be made at least 24 hours in advance to receive a refund or reschedule.
- No refunds will be given for work already carried out.
4. Use of DNA Data
- If DNA data is shared with me, it is the client’s responsibility to ensure they have the legal right to use and disclose this data.
- I handle all DNA information confidentially and in line with GDPR and ICO regulations.
- DNA results are interpreted using best-practice methods, but conclusions cannot be guaranteed due to the complexity of genetic genealogy.
5. Confidentiality and Data Protection
- All personal and family information shared will be kept strictly confidential.
- I comply with the UK GDPR and ICO requirements. Please see my [Privacy Policy] for details on how your data is handled.
6. Research Limitations
- Historical records may be incomplete, inaccurate, or unavailable, which can limit findings.
- All conclusions are based on the best available evidence at the time of research.
7. Intellectual Property
- Research reports, charts, and written materials produced remain my intellectual property until full payment has been received.
- Once paid for, clients are granted personal use rights. Reports may not be published commercially without permission.
8. Liability
- While every effort is made to ensure accuracy, I cannot accept liability for any loss or damage arising from the use of research results.
- My role is to provide professional research and interpretation — I do not provide legal or medical advice.
9. Governing Law
- These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
- Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
